Oh, but since this was built in the Dutch Hill community in Snohomish, WA.... It's $825,000

Last month I had a recruiter try and BS me about the costs of living in Seattle. I just laughed at them.

Sammamish homes start below $1,000,000?
I really dislike all of those windows. Every single one

Is Seattle like Vancouver bad? I think the market has begun to cool off in Vancouver but that’s like being offered discount of a few percent on a million dollars, I still can’t fucking afford it.

This is Snohomish

What defines a “rambler?” I’d have called this a bungalow, albeit a fancy-ass one.

The house our friend the good Dr is about 40 miles north of Seattle. They don’t get any cheaper as you get closer for sure.

Single story home, with our without basement.

I like my doors with all the gaps so the critters can come inside and stay warm.

I like it.

Holy fuck, 40 miles out of the city for 825k USD is nuts.
Housing prices around my area have gotten higher but at least it’s not that crazy.

Oh...
In my defense both of those are 9 letter words with a lot of letters in simmilar places!

I have the same big ass tiles as this house has in it’s shower, although I had them installed horizontal. Took a while to grow on me, but I like it now. Not sure I like the vertical placement everyone else does.

This will buy you a 13 00 sq ft condo in Toronto.
I am drooling at all that space! And garage space!

Garage was nice and deep, with 8' doors. Must be nice, and so forth.

I can only get so erect!

Time for a pet peeve of mine. For whatever reason, kitchen cabinets that do not go to the ceiling really bug me. I know you couldn’t necessarily put 42-inch cabinets and go to the top on this particular kitchen ceiling (because it looks like a 10 foot ceiling) , but still it just irks me for some reason. All of that is just wasted space

I despise builder grade finishes, especially on a house selling for that much. My house in Bothell is MUCH nicer than that and at $699k I haven’t had a bite in almost three months. The market for anything other than ~$500k starter homes has gone to shit.
![]() 06/19/2019 at 19:27 |

A lot of wasted space , but it’s money money saved, plus room to display knick knacks as you slowly approach the grave. Further , you can’t even get to the upper cabinets without a ladder anyway, so why bother?
![]() 06/19/2019 at 19:29 |

Oh your house is still on the market? That is anti-bueno.
![]() 06/19/2019 at 19:44 |

Yep, little to no interest. Cut the price twice, nada. Same for houses all around me, sure different from 2018
![]() 06/19/2019 at 19:45 |

I’m minimalist. I don’t have any knick knacks. If an item doesn’t serve a purpose, I get rid of it/donate it. I figure if/when I ever move, that’s just less stuff to pack up. Yes, I lead a boring life.
As for the cabinets themselves, I realize my thinking isn’t normal. I’d rather there be some ductwork or something (like a tray ceiling) that could bring the ceiling height down some.

How much of a hit can you afford? Is getting it sold this year a top priority?
![]() 06/19/2019 at 19:53 |

I can wait it out, it’s annoying but we can afford to do so. The other thing I’ve discovered first hand is just how absolutely fucking useless real estate agents are, when I re-list I’ll probably sell it myself.
![]() 06/19/2019 at 20:09 |

Please tell me that price is based on cubic feet.

Well, if not I have an agent I’m quite fond of. Good help is hard to find...

Yes
No

I don’t think it’s too much to ask they take a video, write a proper description (I had to re-write the drivel they put up originally) and when they begrudgingly give in and have an open house (for all of two hours) they could put down their fucking phone and show people the house. I have cameras all over the house, I can see real time what they don’t do. And they expect $17k in commissions when the house magically sells itself => this is a”full ser vic e” agent charging 5%

Maybe so

500k... starter home...
I can not process that.

Especially when they appear to have the same tile on the kitchen backsplash going horizontal. Pick a direction!
![]() 06/19/2019 at 22:17 |

Looks like they spent hundreds of dollars on those windows, compared to the dozens of dollars usually spent on contractor grade tract castles. Maybe $40 for that bedroom (?) light fixture too.
![]() 06/19/2019 at 22:26 |

The bathroom should not be larger than the kitchen. That is all.
![]() 06/19/2019 at 22:51 |

Its another area for dust to collect. The previous owners of my house boxed in a soffit above the cabinets to close the space, kind of prefer that. Yeah, you could eek out extra storage if it was open, but easy clean surfaces are always the way to go in a kitchen.

That house is deceptively huge.
